  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • 5-1/2 cups bread flour

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, milk, sugar, powdered ginger (optional), and active dry yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix salt and bread flour in another bowl. Gradually add to the yeast mixture while stirring until a dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 to 1.5 hours).
  5. Punch down the dough, divide into two loaves, shape them, and place in greased loaf pans. Allow to rise again until doubled (about 30 minutes).
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown. Brush with melted butter after baking.
