  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar (divided)
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (cubed)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • Baking powder
  • Kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly.
  3. Mix in egg, vanilla, and apple cider vinegar until combined.
  4. Press half the dough into a greased 2-quart baking dish.
  5. In another bowl, combine blackberries, remaining sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and zest. Spread over the dough.
  6. Crumble remaining dough on top of the berries.
  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  8. Allow to cool for 30 minutes before serving.
