  • 1 ½ lbs. ground beef (85% lean)
  • 4 Tablespoons frozen butter (shredded)
  • ½ cup yellow onion (very finely minced)
  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
  • 3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Salt/Pepper
  • 2 yellow onions (sliced into ¾ inch strings)
  • 3 Tablespoons cold unsalted butter (divided)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup cold water + 3 tablespoons corn starch

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, shredded frozen butter, minced onion, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined and shape into patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and cook until caramelized (8-10 minutes). Stir in butter until melted.
  4. Add chicken broth, beef broth, onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce; bring to a simmer.
  5. Combine cornstarch with cold water until smooth; gradually add to simmering gravy until thickened.
  6. Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet to simmer briefly with the gravy before serving hot.
